This was Chris Brown’s reaction to Miranda Lambert dedicating her song “Gunpowder and Lead” to him.  I’ve never listened to the song because FUCK POP COUNTRY but the lyrics are about shooting the shit out of an abusive partner.  Bad ass.  

Here’s the chorus:

I’m goin’ home, gonna load my shotgun/Wait by the door and light a cigarette/If he wants a fight well now he’s got one/And he ain’t seen me crazy yet/He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll/Don’t that sound like a real man/I’m going to show him what a little girls made of/Gunpowder and lead

Lambert grew up in an abusive household where her mother was subjected to significant amounts of physical abuse and expressed outrage when Chris Brown received a Grammy.  A couple days ago, Lambert held up a shotgun and this sign:

What is problematic here is that while Lambert staged a genuine protest of the public letting an abusive piece of shit asshole like Brown get off, Brown interpreted it as a publicity stunt rather than a “hey fuck you you piece of shit asshole go die in a fire” and even goes on to mock the album that includes the song.

Fuck this guy.  I can’t believe Kanye got more flack for “I’ma let you finish” than Brown did for hospitalizing his then-girlfriend.  At least Kanye apologized for what he did, while you tweet shit like “hate all you want I got a Grammy loolol”.

Fuck you Chris Brown.  Your music fucking sucks and you’re an arrogant piece of shit asshole.

I appreciate Miranda Lambert’s sentiments, even though in my gut, I’m all “white lady vs. black guy, feels weird….” I wanna say that you can divorce the issue of domestic abuse from the racial context, but, can you? Nothing changes the fact that Chris Brown is an abuser; I have no problem with criticizing him. It still seems important to consider the framing, though.
