I went out and got a real, fancy phone today

So now, I have actual internet, or some approximation thereof. I thought it was going to be super, prohibitively expensive, and it turned out to be much less than I anticipated, so that’s always really cool. Having my own internet/a mobile hotspot is kind of a new thing for me (we never had it at home because I was at school and my parents had all the internet they could ask for at their respective jobs), and sitting here on the couch, comfortably/not sitting in a weird place and mooching off a local business’s internet is kind of nice. I just downloaded and am listening to the self-titled Sick Fix 7” and I’m thinking about how not too long ago, I felt totally overwhelmed by this kind of decision/errand, and how proud I am of myself for having dealt with all of this — having to call my provider, changing the name on the account and providing the necessary documents to do so, contacting the credit bureau they go through, calling back and making sure it all went through, and then going to the store and picking an actual phone, etc etc etc — and how good it feels to have had a productive day where I actually moved forward with my hot mess of a life.
